A Pirate and his Mermaid

"You're the one. The one I've been looking for."

I must be a mermaid, I have no fear of depth and a great fear of shallow living. -Anais Nin

I'm a little obsessed with this photo shoot!
I've been wanting to do mermaids for a while but a Mermaid and a Pirate?!
That's exactly what this couple reminds me of so inspiration struck the way inspiration always does and we had fun with it!
We took these at sunset and the sky was very moody, I personally think it made the pictures even better!

I'm getting ahead of myself here!
The lovely couple you see were kind of strangers to me before this!
We met through instagram and discovered we had a lot of the same interests, that led to Facebook friendship and a Skype session!
They needed to get some head shots done and would be close to my neck of the woods, so we decided this was the perfect time to meet!
Now we've met in person and I can't wait to work with them again!
My favorite people to photograph are the ones who are up for anything!

They even did the iconic stunt from Dirty Dancing!
I think it's safe to say we're truly friends now! ;)

Thank you to my handsome assistant Colton for all of his help!!!
What are brothers for, right?
He even bought me an icee for the ride home!!!
Thank you Colton!
This my friends, was the end of a very fun, very successful photo shoot!
Take chances, make friends and always do what you love!

Chasing Waterfalls

The sky over the bay on our way home from Taran's Graduation.
The tallest waterfall in the state of Florida!
We have just about everything here in Florida! ;)
Wild hydrangeas right beside the falls.
My Dad in full on hike mode, always a scout!
The forest shaped by fire.
This guy jumped out at Grant and I making us both jump!
Aunt Kay and Grant came along for our little adventure!
Butterflies always make me smile!
Milkweed has such unique Blossoms!
May berries that we ate right off of the little tree!
Blackberries that aren't quite ripe.
Out of all of the birds we saw that day I think the love birds were my favorite!
How cute are my parents?!
Nature is so perfect!
This plant is one of my favorites!!!
Not only is it pretty!
When you touch the ferns leaves...
They close!!!
We call it sensitive plant but it is known as Mimosa Pudica!
Ferns of all shapes and sizes covered the ground.
This is a Spurge Nettle... as in a ouchie waiting to happen!
But even they are Beautiful!
On our way to the swimming hole, I think everyone should have a covered bridge like this.
You were great Falling Waters State Park now off to the Florida Caverns!
Sooo... I've met someone, he is solid, a really great listener and he can't, ugh, I mean, won't run away from me! :)
Welcome to the entrance of the caverns!
We hiked the trails instead of going on the cave tour this time but we still took a moment to cool down, the temperature difference was amazing and that wasn't even inside the caverns!
I think I could never get tired of looking at moss, especially when it encompasses such a large area.
It's enchanting to say the least.
The Mosquitoes just about flew away with me but we kept a pretty brisk pace and a bottle of mosquito repellent on us at all times so I wasn't in need of a blood transfusion afterwards.
Keep that in mind when hiking in this kind of place.
A blocked off entrance to the caverns and all of our surroundings eerily reminded me of Jurassic Park! If they ever make another one I know the perfect location!

Last but not least, I leave you with an over exposed Karate Kid.
And the advice to explore the places around you!
It's okay to dream of far off places but what's the point if you don't even want to take advantage of the magical places close to home?
Get some exercise, drink plenty of water and save money!!!
Entrances to state parks are way less than movie tickets these days!!!
And of course don't forget your camera and/or journal to record your memories!
I hope everyone is having a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!
Thank you to all of the countless men and woman who have served, are currently serving and who will serve to keep our country safe but more importantly FREE!!!

Mermaid Bride

It's not everyday you get a message from random strangers saying "We need a model and we heard you might be available!"
Let me start off by saying,  I was on the fence about going for multiple reasons!

1. Stranger Danger! However, after a quick phone conversation saying and asking all of the right things, I knew it was legitimate AND we were meeting in a public place!
2. It was an hour drive and I was already loosing daylight!
3. I was gross! I had been working outside all day and I needed a shower like yesterday!
Finally I decided "What's life without a little adventure?!"

So I showered without washing my hair, (Gasp!) and put makeup on as fast as I possibly could!
I headed towards the beach with a feeling of nervous excitement in my tummy!
When I met the girls I knew I had made the right decision!

These were my kind of people, you could tell that what they were doing wasn't just a job for them.
They truly loved every part of it!
The team was made up of two stylists and a photographer.
I found out that the photographer was shooting with film!!!
I was elated but I had never done a photo shoot with film so it was also a little bit daunting!
You carefully wait for the perfect shot and you don't see them right away on a little screen!

Jennifer(The photographer) sends them off to a little photo lab and doesn't get them back until a week or two later.
I'm so used to digital these days and all of it's instant gratification.
But I must say there is just something about film, a romantic quality that makes everything look soft like you could reach through and touch the skirt of this amazing dress.
For more of Jennifer's work visit www.jenniferpharr.com her instagram is @jenniferpharrphotography.

Mary Kendall and Victoria were the lovely stylists that created the gorgeous bouquet and set up the table fit for a mermaid princess's wedding!
Victoria also did the calligraphy on the place card, for more of her work check out www.victoriaaustindesigns.com
you can also follow her instagram @victoriaaustindesigns.

Mary Kendall was crucial in picking the perfect dress for this beach wedding shoot!
Bella Bridesmaids is a boutique in Fairhope, Alabama where Mary Kendall chose this dress among others for the Rosemary beach shoot.

The dress itself was by Saja. www.sajawedding.com
And the gorgeous beaded headpiece was by Lacielle Roselle. www.lacielleroselle.com

Thank you so much to these three lovely ladies who took a chance on a girl they didn't know!

Thank you so much for letting me show all of these lovely photos to the world!!!

 Behind the scenes!!!
Of course I had to take a few behind the scenes photos for the blog!
Can I eat here everyday???
The three gorgeous ladies that made this random act of magic happen!!!
From left:Victoria, Jennifer and Mary Kendall.
And last but not least the precious little girls that asked for a picture with the girl in the pretty dress!
If my day wasn't wonderful enough this made for the perfect ending!
